Reporting to the Finance Director, the Accounting Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the General Ledger and Grants & Contracts group (supervise 3-4 staff).


  • Oversees grants and contracts clerk with the daily operations –Work closely with grants & contracts clerk and program manager to successfully complete each commitment. 
  • Resolves business critical issues, implement process improvement initiatives, and proactively manage issues related to grants & contracts.
  • Reviews and approves journal entries and bank reconciliations prepared by GL accountants.
  • Reviews the organization’s accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies and imbalances.
  • Monthly reconciliations of sub-ledger related balance sheet accounts. Analyzes accounts and prepares appropriate adjusting/accruing journal entries.
  • Ensures timely submission of cost reimbursement form and drawdown.   
  • Ensures timely month end closing. Assists Director of Finance for generating monthly, quarterly and yearly financial statements.
  • Assists the Director of Finance in the preparation of single audit.
  • Cross train with Accounting Supervisor who oversees sub-ledgers.
  • Maintains and enhances professional growth and development through active participation in educational programs, meetings and workshops.
  • Contributes to the overall quality of the unit’s service provision by developing and coordinating work teams and by reviewing, recommending and implementing improved policies and procedures.
  • Represents the Pueblo with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation in all relationships with staff and the public.
  • Other duties as assigned


Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field; AND four (4) years of professional-level accounting or finance experience.
